Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager

This is a Full-time position in Sherbrooke, QC posted October 3, 2017.

The Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager is actively involved in the design of new products and continuous improvement of existing products. The Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager is responsible for implementing all stages of the new product development and research and development process.

 

TASKS:

  • Participate in the design of new products and the improvement of existing products for the various markets (local, US and international) using 3D Design software;
  • Participate in brainstorming to create new concepts and find ideas for improving existing products;
  • Ensure the conformity of our products with the applicable national and international standards;
  • Design various machines and tools (technical specification) for the production of finished products;
  • Design test benches, coordinate testing for prototypes and / or existing products, create protocols and write test reports;
  • Responsible for internal and external technical validation;
  • Perform finite element analysis
  • Study, analyze, and calculate the information used to design systems (mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, structural, electronic, materials, fluid, thermal, etc.)
  • Analyze product failures for warranty purposes, document possible causes and recommend solutions to problems;
  • Document any related research and development activities (shared task);
  • Support technically the various stakeholders of the company including designers, foremen, the production team, the maintenance team, sales and technical services.
  • Ensure the application of the product development process;
  • Participate existing prototypes or product tests and produce reports;
  • Ensure the follow-up of the different development projects of new products and continuous improvement by ensuring good communication between departments and clients;
  • Plan and coordinate the realization of R & D prototypes in the plant and count the project timesheet weekly.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • 3 to 5 years of product development experience;
  • Experience in the field of agriculture considered an asset;
  • Good knowledge of Design software (Solid Edge or Solid Works, CAD);
  • Bilingual (functional English and French);
  • Good knowledge of product development processes;
  • Strong team player;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Good time management and multi-tasks skills;
  • Creative mind and ability to synthesize information.
