Corporate Controller

Motrec International

This is a Contract position in Sherbrooke, QC posted January 9, 2022.

Motrec International has been a leading manufacturer of Electric Industrial Vehicles for over 34 years.

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Controller must have strong communication, technology, analytical and management skills. Candidates must be a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) and have at least seven years of relevant experience.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct and coordinate all operational functions relating to accounting
  • Manage the accumulation and reconciliation of all necessary financial data to accurately perform accounting for consolidated business results
  • Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements
  • Coordinate the activities of external auditors
  • Provide management with essential information to make informed decisions
  • Manage the budget process
  • Evaluate current accounting activities, recommend improvements and implement new processes
  • Evaluate accounting and internal control systems
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and related database as required
  • Develop and track business performance measures
  • Oversee regulatory obligations, which often include tax planning and compliance
  • Establish procedures, processes and controls
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles or financial reporting standards
  • Oversee the payroll process
  • Ensure records are accurately maintained, expenses are paid and revenue is collected
  • Oversee the performance of the transaction teams
  • Prepare annual corporate reports
  • Ensure effective cash management, budget forecasting and communication to departments and executives
  • Hire, organize, train and manage staff

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills
  • Managerial, organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks while exercising sound judgment and making informed decisions

Qualifications

  • Member in good standing of the Quebec CPA order
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing sector
  • Advanced knowledge of financial reports and statements
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting software
  • Knowledge of ERP platforms
  • Perfectly bilingual (French and English), both written and spoken
  • Thorough knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
