Non-destructive Testing Technician


This is a Contract position in Sherbrooke, QC posted January 18, 2023.

The NDT technician will be responsible for the process of detecting discontinuities of different compositions and materials. He will work closely with other qualified technicians to perform their inspections. Will also be responsible for performing testing, diagnostic and troubleshooting tasks.


  • Perform UT “shearwave”
  • Perform various non-destructive tests to assure quality and/or detect defects using various NDT methods in various contexts.
  • Record and evaluate inspection results.
  • Ensure strict compliance with health and safety rules.
  • Perform NDT inspections and interpret results to accept/reject parts.
  • Interpret codes, standards, drawings and other contractual documents that control the NDT method.
  • Ability to select NDT method and technique for specific inspection, prepare and verify adequacy of procedures.
  • Configure and calibrate non-destructive testing equipment.
  • Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety rules.
  • Apply test criteria according to applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.
  • Organize and report test results.
  • May be called upon to train new employees
  • Contributes to the collective effort of the department and the company


  • Level I or II – Certifications in UT CGSB/AWS or equivalent qualifications/experience.
  • Experience using NDT techniques, procedures and equipment in the oil and gas industry.
