Pilots fly a range of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) aircraft in a variety of roles: Search and Rescue, Fighter, Transport, Tactical Helicopter, or Maritime Patrol.

The primary responsibilities of a Pilot are:

  • To plan communicate, coordinate and execute tactical missions.
  • Support of civil authority or military objectives, such as humanitarian and disaster relief and air intercept operations.
  • They work with sophisticated technology for precision tactical navigation systems, advanced communication systems, sensor systems, counter-measure systems and weapon delivery systems.



  • In the Regular Force, military personnel may have atypical schedules. They have rewarding experiences and unique challenges depending on their environment.
  • In the Reserve Force, members adapt their schedule to suit their needs. They can choose to work full time or part time on a voluntary basis.


  • For the REGULAR FORCE, the salary varies between $60 792,00 and $116040,00$/year depending on experience.
  • For the Reserve Force, the salary varies between $130.80 and $346.18 per day.

  • In the Regular Force, members work on bases and stations across Canada and on operational deployments around the world.
  • In the Reserve Force, members have the opportunity to work only in their own region.
