As a hands-on leader, you’ll combine machine learning and software engineering to produce scalable, production-ready and well-documented software artifacts and enable their deployment into the business’ cloud ecosystem.

Responsibilities Mentor a team of developers and support them with their day-to-day technical tasks; Work with the development director to define AI and software development processes and best practices and supervise their day-to-day application; Coach the team to write and maintain quality code with clear documentation; Help the development team to deliver software and meet deadlines; Lead and participate in architecture and design reviews; Hands-on ML model and feature development for AI Decisions Support Systems including backend development; AI model integration: Transform prototypical and proof-of-concept artifacts into production-ready system components; Develop tools, services and pipelines to support development and data processing workflows; Participate in Agile ceremonies; Code reviews; Create/maintain automated deployment scripts; Create/maintain automated tests; Collaborate with data scientists, software engineering, product management and research partners to understand company needs and devise possible solutions; Keep up-to-date with latest technology trends in order to provide forward-thinking recommendations to the business; Skills and qualifications 7 years experience with AI and software engineering with exposure to technical leadership, machine learning and/or operations research; Strong practical experience with Python and relevant data science, ML and/or OR libraries, such as Tensorflow, PyTorch, NumPy, OR-Tools, scipy.optimize, etc.; In-depth experience with at least one Python framework such as FastAPI, Flask, Django; Experience with cloud data pipelines (ideally on Microsoft Azure); Experience with continuous integration/deployment and supporting tools; Experience working with databases (SQL and NoSQL); Solid software engineering skills; Good understanding of algorithms and data structures; Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills; Experience with version control systems (preferably Git); Functional in a remote work environment; Inspiring Leader, quick learner, critical thinker, self-motivated, team-player, good communication skills; Undergraduate degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, physics (or equivalent work experience); Assets Bilingual (French/English) is a strong asset; Experience in both machine learning AND operations research; Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline; Microservices architecture; Continuous deployment for machine learning models; Natural language processing;
