This is a Contract position in Sherbrooke, QC posted May 25, 2023.

As Buyer, you will be responsible for ensuring the supply of raw materials and finished products to meet daily production needs in accordance with company policies and objectives.

You commit to promoting the company’s values and to maintaining a safe work environment.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Purchase materials as recommended by the ERP production management system (components, raw materials and services).
  • Create and maintain a database of purchasing parameters and items (minimum order quantity (MOQ), Min-Max, price, inventory level security, Kanban).
  • Ensure on-time supply based on production planning.
  • Determine and maintain appropriate inventory levels based on needs.
  • Ensure suppliers respect delivery dates; evaluate and measure their performance.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with key suppliers while providing excellent service to internal customers.
  • Manage any supplier non-conformities.
  • Maintain an optimal inventory turnover ratio.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Identify and optimize new supply sources.
  • Collaborate with the receiving & inspection departments to ensure the flow of materials.
  • Apply the principles of continuous improvement to supply logistics.
  • Perform any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required skills and abilities:

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task with a high level of efficiency
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organized, autonomous, self-starter and adaptable
  • Detail oriented, disciplined and adhere to rules
  • Experience in parts used to manufacture transportation or machinery equipment
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes for steel and electrical and mechanical components (asset)
  • Ability to work closely with planning, engineering and other multidisciplinary teams
  • Analytical and negotiation skills
  • Good problem solving skills

Job requirements:

  • College diploma in supply management (training in any other relevant area will be considered)
  • At least 3 years’ experience in supply chain management
  • Bilingualism (English/French), written and spoken
  • Experience with ERP manufacturing management software (asset)
  • Knowledge of the main Microsoft Office applications

Ability to work in an industrial work environment is essential.
