Materials & Trims Developer


This is a Contract position in Sherbrooke, QC posted July 31, 2022.

In this role you will be accountable for the material & trim management with your cross functional partners to provide the best material & trims to our target consumer needs. You will be ultimately responsible for the research, development and management of  all technical materials and trims across all 4 brands; Can-Am, Ski-Doo, Sea-Doo and Lynx.


Oversee and drive yarn, material and trims supplier development to generate general industry understanding regarding availability, cost, innovations and to manage capacity growth plans from concept to mainstream rollout. Ensure the availability of materials & trims for the development phase, which support the strategic product direction to enable commercial success. Find, Innovate or/and develop the right materials according to calendar timelines, target prices, sourcing policy, sustainable and quality standards.


  • Manage key yarn, material and trims supplier relations, to generate general industry understanding regarding availability, cost, innovations.
  • Provide relevant information to material & trims suppliers about BRP sustainability strategy to influence their strategic choices. 
  • Keep up to date on new technologies and suppliers to have a large portfolio of yarn, material and trims supplier options.
  • Innovate on yarn, material & trims technologies to have a wide portfolio of  material and trims supplier options.
  • In alignment with sustainable material developments, connect with yarn, material and trim suppliers to create relationships, understand, and evaluate their capacity, capability, and business model.
  • Collaborate closely with development, design and sourcing teams while identifying yarn, material & trim suppliers 
  • Based on need, work with the identified yarn, material & trim suppliers on their capacity and create a capacity growth plan. 
  • Order and plan the samples and production for trims & materials.
  • Follow up the capacity growth road map based on the review sequence and update as needed. 
  • Be involved in seasonal yarn, material & trim costing discussions with T3s. 
  • When required, support other departments to connect with the yarn, material & trim supplier to work directly on their relevant topics (e.g.: quality, cost, delivery, sustainability etc).
  • When required, organise annual audits of the yarn, material & trim supplier.


  • T2 and T3 Suppliers.
  • Development, Sourcing, Design and Marketing.
  • Functional leads of Apparel.


  • Advanced knowledge of materials construction and manufacturing, yarn (cotton, synthetic, Sympatex ).
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Strong knowledge in apparel process and environment.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills. 
  • Proactive and creative approach to work.
  • Fluent in English, verbal and written and, French would be an advantage.
  • Advanced Google Suite skills.
  • Ability to work with internal Product Data Management systems 


  • A diploma or degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Clothing Technology or the equivalent combination of education and related work experience in the Apparel/Textiles field.
  • A minimum  of 4 to 7 years progressive work experience in a related field.
